This new release is ‘Soul Satisfaction 3’ from DJ Jo Wallace and a great collection of goodies there is too. No sooner had Motown delivered the superb ‘Cellarful of Motown’ to rave reviews from all corners of the UK, then we have this to continue the momentum. Firstly, let me say that sleeve for this CD does nothing for the music contained therein, but don’t let that put you off making an essential purchase.
The first thing that hits you with this CD is the amount of ‘B’ sides of issued singles and the obvious being the Four Tops ‘Don’t Bring back Memories’ & ‘Where Did You Go’ and Chuck Jackson’s excellent ‘What Am I Gonna Do Without You’ (the flips side to ‘Honey Come Back’) from 1969 as well as Marvin Gaye’s ‘When I Had Your Love’ and the much loved song from Diana Ross & Supremes ‘You’ve Been Wonderful To Me’ as the flip to ‘Some Things’ from 1968.
The CD opens with the ultra rare track from Liz Lands and ‘Midnight Johnny’ complete with backing vocals from none other than the Temptations before moving onto Stevie Wonder’s duet with Levi Stubbs in ‘Teach Me Tonight’ (click here to hear a clip of this song) Motown house band leader Earl Van Dyke has his 1965 hammond organ led instrumental ‘All For You’ included (hooray) and don’t forget Marvin Gaye did a vocal version of this song entitled ‘Lucky Lucky Me’ (not on this CD).
Tommy Goods excellent Gordy single ‘Baby I Miss You’ gets a much welcomed inclusion and again for those who haven’t yet heard this brillant example of mid sixties Motown can do so by clicking here. David Ruffin fans will not be disappointed, and the inclusion of ‘Loneliness Made Me Realise’ (with the Temptations) is as good as you get, and his collaberation with the late Van McCoy on ‘Questions’ from the mid seventies takes the Motown sound into a new era.
Perhaps the hot item on this CD is the excellent ‘I’ll Follow You’ from diva Martha Reeves which I am confident will create a strong demand for this CD as her recordings are always in demand, as are blue eyed soulstress Chris Clark whose flip side ‘Don’t Be Too Long’ has instant appeal and again demonstrates Motown’s commitment in bringing those rarer sides of the labels output into the public domain once more.
Expect to see healthy sales of this release worldwide.

Original Universal Press Release and Tracklisting'
Following on from the critically-acclaimed 'Soul Satisfaction 2 - The Motown Connection' comes the third instalment 'Soul Satisfaction 3 - Motown Delights, Soft-Centred Soul', packed with even more stonking soul and smooth grooves, once again lovingly put together by "These Old Shoes" DJ Jo Wallace.
There
are plenty of big tracks gathered here including Liz Lands' 'Midnight Johnny'
which has only ever been available on bootlegged CDs in the past with vinyl
copies passing hands for onwards of £75! And who could forget
Frank Wilson's 'Till You Were Gone' which was previously attributed to
Smokey Robinson on the 1965 US CD release 'The Best Of...' later correctly
identified by Motown and Frank himself! A must for any Motown
collector for sure!
All tracks have been digitally remastered from the original masters.
