I doubt whether there is a Motown fan on this vast planet of ours who would disagree with me when I say that Universal Music's commitment and dedication in giving us the most comprehensive set of Motown releases/re-issues this century is unquestionable. We have been treated to the rare and unreleased items from the vaults that we had all given up hope of ever seeing the light of day eventually released and remastered for us all to enjoy. Universal Music have two gem's on their staff payroll in Daryl Easlea here in the UK, and Harry Weigner in the US - both of which have tirelessly worked to deliver the goods, but when you look at the below new releases for this month one has to ask the question why these titles are being released and who their target audience are?

Once again we find a selection of re-packaged re-releases crammed full of songs that the vast majority of Motown fans have bought previously and new Motown fans either already have these hit songs, the majority of which are still on catalogue and can be found very cheap on EBAY.

These new 'Gold' double CD's which are all released in September (with more titles to come from Martha/Stevie etc have some superb sleeve photo's to compliment the excellent songs contained therein - the majority of which are so well known it doesn't make sense to go over the same old ground other than to make you aware of their existence.
